What The UPF...!
...is what I want you and your kids to say with ATTITUDE when you come across an Ultra Processed Food in the supermarket. And then I want you to put it back on the shelf and walk on.

Paraphrasing the Oxford Dictionary, food is any NUTRITIOUS substance that people eat or drink in order to maintain life and growth. UPF’s (Ultra Processed Foods) on the other hand, are not real food yet they make up most of the products in our supermarkets. They're not nutritious. Quite the opposite. They’re ‘food’ made in factories high in sugars, salts and mostly bad fats, with additives, flavours and preservatives thrown in. They usually taste delicious and keep us coming back for more. You know the ‘foods’ I mean. Think all those salty snacks, frozen chicken nuggets, two minute noodles, sugary cereals, and on and on. They’re everywhere and most of us now think they’re normal food. They’ve snuck up on us over the last few decades and we haven’t really noticed. They make up about 42% (and climbing) of our kids’ diets and our kids are addicted to them. And we’re addicted to buying them by the trolley-full. But we’re not doing our kids any favours when we feed them UPF’s. I’ve been doing the research and what I’m finding is very scarey. So the aim of this site is to bring you some of the scientific knowledge about UPF’s and to help you sort out what’s food in supermarkets (there is some good stuff out there) and What the UPF…!
