Lunch

Small and consistent steps...

And now for lunch.

What you can do to feed your kids the good stuff for school and weekend lunches

  • Think easy yet nourishing lunches

  • Load them up with veggies first: those small tomatoes, mini cucumbers, packets of shredded lettuce and grated carrot will make your life easier. Cut up carrot, capsicum and celery sticks. Stick veggies anywhere you think they’ll eat them. Veggies are really great for kids - loaded with vitamins, minerals and fibre

  • Give them plenty of wholegrain/ wholemeal bread or wraps or crackers

  • Add protein: cheese or boiled eggs or shredded chicken or a tin of tuna or strips of leftover meat

  • To finish: fruit or dried fruit/fruit strap.  A tub of yoghurt is also great

  • Have four or five go-to lunches that your kids love and just rotate them

  • For the weekend, something different: toasties and a mini corn on the cob, or a basic home made pizza. And always, the veggies

  • Be proud when you look inside your kids’ lunchboxes
